March 2025: Progress on the Plant and Eat project and outlook

I am happy to report again on the current situation at the GOA Children Home Beat The Drum.

Looking back, I am very grateful for the “water miracle” that Jesus revealed to me in February 2024. In May 2024, I organised a borehole to a depth of 170 m, where the long-awaited water source for the home was actually found (see The Water Miracle of Mai Mahiu).

A lot has happened in the meantime. More vegetable gardens have been planted in the various children’s homes. Mangoes, avocados, strawberries and apples now enrich the menu.

The Beat The Drum children’s home is benefiting from the ongoing Plant and Eat project with new fruit trees and more vegetable seedlings. This has improved the nutritional situation there.

I regularly receive reports from our friend Peter Muchiri about the other children’s homes, where it has become possible to plant significantly more and more varied vegetables. In addition, more stables have been built for chickens, goats, sheep and cows, also with your help.

The Plant and Eat project will run until the end of 2025 and has been very successful. I am very grateful for your support during this time. After that, it remains to be seen whether and which projects will follow.

On my next trip to Kenya, I will evaluate the development with Peter. In any case, the foundations for better nutrition in the children’s homes have now been laid.

Fortunately, GOA Switzerland has been active in Kenya for many years. The director, Rebekka Wehrli, whom I highly recommend, is doing excellent work.

December 2024: Current status of the projects

Developments at the GOA Children’s Home Beat The Drum are continuing to progress well. The joy over the wonderful, high-quality water from the new source is unbroken.

Word has spread about the “water miracle” of May Mahiu. I am receiving text messages from new contacts in other children’s homes.

The new Plant and Eat project is developing well. New plantations are being created at several GOA Children’s Homes. The aim is to significantly improve nutrition in the children’s homes and make it more varied.

This will provide better planting sites for self-sufficiency in the future. This is thanks to the good work of my Kenyan friend Peter Muchiri from GOA. He puts everything into practice, plants new vegetables and fruit trees, organises materials for the chicken coops and takes care of other facilities for better self-sufficiency. Peter is a stroke of luck for everyone!

It is a great pleasure for me to receive such tremendous support from friends and patrons!

September 2024: Water pipes installed / New Plant and Eat project

I am happy to inform you about the current situation at the GOA Children Home Beat The Drum.

After we found water in May, it took about two months to install all the pipes and distribute the water to all the houses on the site. The two tanks have also been installed. The drilling company did an exemplary job.

There is still great joy about this “water miracle” at the children’s home. The good quality of the water has been confirmed. It is 40 degrees Celsius when it is pumped up!

Now the water can be stored in the two tanks. This provides a reserve of drinking water for the children and staff, as well as for the two cows, a few goats and chickens.

The home’s director is very grateful that they no longer have to obtain water by truck.

Your donation is still very welcome to cover the total costs of CHF 25,400.00.

In April 2024, I started a second project called Plant and Eat. This project involves all seven GOA Children’s Homes.

The plan is to improve the planting around the homes. Vegetable seedlings, new fruit trees, chicken coops and the cultivation of their own grain will improve the homes’ self-sufficiency.

I have found a reliable partner for this project in Peter Muchiri, an agronomist.

May 2024: The “water miracle” of Mai Mahiu

On 13 May 2024, I arrived at the GOA Children Home Beat The Drum. The drilling company Marine Well had already set everything up and began drilling immediately.

The drilling location had already been determined in February. During my visit at that time, Jesus Christ had shown me the exact location and also specified the drilling depth of 170 metres. I then organised and financed the drilling work from Switzerland (GOA had already carried out three unsuccessful drillings on the site, so further drilling was no longer possible through the organisation).

The prediction came true exactly. After three days, the drilling depth of 170 metres was reached. The 5-metre-long pipes, each weighing 130 kg, were removed.

On 16 May, the water level was checked. There was no fountain, as is sometimes the case elsewhere. An echo sounder detected water at a depth of 132 metres in the 170-metre-deep borehole. Everyone involved breathed a sigh of relief and rejoiced.

Further investigations followed: water was pumped out to determine how quickly the water level would return to its previous level.

It got even better: the water level rose to 144 metres. This was a clear sign that there was sufficient water available. The water was approximately 40 degrees Celsius and of good quality.

A few days later, there was a big celebration: a Celebration of Joy (an expression of joy, a festival with music, singing and food) and trees were planted to mark the occasion.

Now there is still a lot to do with the installation of pumps, pipes and a tank. Many thanks go to the drilling company, whose boss I met personally and whose team worked very well together.

My joy is immense! The fulfilment of what I learned from Jesus in February is wonderful. Now there is no longer any need to buy water with the tanker truck!
